Sealants
Sealants on newly erupted first and second permanent molars are a common preventive treatment in dentistry.
A sealant is a thin, plastic-like material applied to the chewing surfaces of a child's permanent first and second molars. The sealant fills the grooves and depressions of the tooth preventing cavity-causing buildup. Sealants can help prevent cavities from forming in the deep grooves of a tooth.
